What Are the Welding Technique Used In Titanium Welding

Titanium is used extensively in shipbuilding, chemical industry and aerospace.High quality tanks and planes are made from titanium alloy parts, which are increasingly being used in the oil chemical industry.

The development of titanium alloy applications requires the use of welding techniques. Many titanium alloys can be processed using arcogen welding. All of them can also be processed in solid state welding such as TIG and MIG, low current plasma arc welding and laser, and electron beam welding.

The occurrence of flaws in tungsten inert gas welding titanium is actually much lower than that of ferrous materials like iron alloy or nickel alloy. Despite titanium's superior welding capabilities, some engineers still find it difficult to weld titanium alloy. This is because welding titanium alloy requires gas protection.

Only the most skilled can meet this requirement. There are many methods that can be used to weld titanium alloy. The welding point becomes more fragile when N2 O2 or carbon material is involved. The welding area should be cleaned and protected with an inert gas. The capabilities of the welding alloy determine which welding material is chosen.

The measures of the reducing gas in titanium alloy welding are:-

1. The welding material must be dry.

2. Prepared welding material should not be used for more than 48 hours.

3. It is important to clean titanium and other welding materials.

4. Protect welding with high purity, non-toxic gas or helium gas.

So ,by taking the above measures carefully, you can produce the best results from titanium welding.
